Post-operative lymphatic drainage in Miami
Manual lymphatic drainage after cosmetic or reconstructive surgery, from a Florida-licensed therapist with over 16 years of practice. Homestead, Kendall, or at your home if you should not be driving yet.
Swelling after surgery is fluid that the lymphatic system has not cleared yet. Manual lymphatic drainage moves it, section by section, in the direction of the lymph nodes.
The pressure is deliberately light. The lymphatic vessels sit just below the skin, so pressing harder does not move more fluid. It bruises tissue that is already healing. Anyone promising an aggressive post-op massage is describing something else.
Most people start three to five days after surgery, once their surgeon clears them, and come two or three times a week at first. Bring your compression garment and put it back on afterwards.
This is hands-only work. No machines, no vacuum devices, no shortcuts.

What it does for you
Swelling goes down
Fluid that is sitting in the tissue gets moved towards the lymph nodes, so the puffiness settles and your compression garment stops fighting you.
Hard, lumpy areas soften
The places that have gone firm or uneven after surgery are worked gently and evenly, session by session.
You are more comfortable sooner
Less tightness and pressure means sleeping, sitting and moving get easier in the weeks when that matters most.
You can see it happening
Most clients notice a visible difference within the first two or three sessions, which is why most book a course rather than one visit.

Recovery questions
How soon after surgery can I start lymphatic drainage?
Most clients start about two days after surgery. A surgeon's clearance is not required, but tell us about your procedure and your incisions when you book — if your surgeon has given you a timeline, we work to it. A course of around ten sessions is what most post-operative clients are recommended.
Start when your surgeon says you can.
Call or text and tell us your surgery date and we will work around it.
